Opening Statement...
A very disappointing game for us, but give Michigan credit they hit some big shots and tough shots. They hit some big shots at the end of the shot clock. I think two big things happened to us: we were up four or five in the first half and we made some subs probably my fault and guys just didn't do their assignments. We gave up three three's in a row. That was one big mistake and at the end we missed a couple layups and that could have been the difference in the game, but I think the credit goes to Michigan they played well they made big shots and rebounded with us. Some of my guys were dragging a little bit at the end, but I thought there was some improvement in Lucas and Summers. I think you also have to give credit to Douglas. He hit a big shot in the lane and then a big shot at the end. So, they deserved to win. They played better than us. They made shots more than we did and we hung in there but couldn't make some shots and missed some layups and a couple guys missed some critical free throws but they missed them too.

On keeping the team together...
It is what it is. There was encouraging parts, some of the guys that I thought needed to get better were Kalin and Durrell and both of them did. We didn't get the ball to Draymond much, he hurt his knee a little bit. Another critical part was when Durrell was making shots then gets those two fouls and we tried to play him a little bit, but we were scared because we know that we're so thin in that spot right now. So, when he gets ten points in ten minutes and then he doesn't do much after that. I don't think there was any quit in the team. They played hard and fought back. I'm not worried about that. It's not a very good situation we're in, nobody is kidding anybody. We are evaluating everything and trying to still win every game. Michigan had some tough loses in some big games and tonight they put it all together and deserve the credit.

On playing physical...
I can't say I was happy with all the calls and I'm sure John was not happy with all the calls, but calls didn't lose us the game or win us the game. It was missed layups and missed shots that did that. I wasn't even disappointed with a lot of our defense other than that three minute stretch...we make those two layups we shot almost 50 percent. So, I just thought they made some tough shots and they made some easy shots down that stretch. Give them credit they made some tough shots.

On the even rebounding margin...
It's disappointing, but right now we have Austin and Kebler in there. Day-Day is playing way too many minutes and I think that hurt us some. They knew what they had to do to stop us and we knew what we had to do to stop them. They stopped us, but we didn't stop the three's to stop them. Credit goes to them.

On Darius Morris shooting...
He is 3-17 so he doesn't get many. He did a good job, he hit two big three's. Any one of those shots could be a big difference to the game. He's long, he's athletic, when he gets in the lane and dribbles in there for quite awhile he's tough to guard.

On retooling rotation...
I didn't do a really good job of rotating those guys in because we got in foul trouble with Durrell and Delvon and that really hurt us. I'm going to have to do a better job on the rotation. I've done a poor job all year for any variety of reasons. That's what a coach needs to do a better job of and I don't think that we've done a good job all year of that because we've been so unsure of things from early injuries and we have new injuries now. I thought as well as Delvon played tonight he didn't play as well, but he is giving us everything that he can give us. We have to get Day-Day more involved, but give them credit they took him away.

On points off the bench...
I thought Austin is playing a lot better. He looked a little nervous tonight but he hasn't played a lot of minutes. I think he will get better, he can make shots and he can rebound the ball. We'll get him playing better. We're going to have to turn into an Ohio State type team...meaning not having a lot of substitutions.

On losing Lucious...
I just feel like it's been a turbulent week. When something like that happens especially when it happens to a guy we all like. It's different on a guy that is a cancer. There is no question that Korie hasn't been playing well, but he was a guy that the team all liked and I and the staff liked. But that had nothing to do with the loss. We still didn't make layups and didn't make coverage's in the first half. It was a tough week, but there are a lot of tough times in this job and it's my job to pull us out of the gutter. I take responsibility for that tonight.

Michigan Head Coach John Beilein

Opening statement...
We have a very happy locker room right now. It is probably a combination of being able to beat a very difficult team and being able to win in a very difficult place. We haven't won since January 2nd but we have been playing great teams. We sing the fight song after every win and that was a very sweet fight song we just sang.

On winning in the Breslin Center for the first time in 14 years...
I haven't really been a part of that; this is only the third time I have been here in four years because of a bye. I don't look at it as a monkey off our backs but I'm sure there are a lot of people that feel really good about winning up here. Just beating Michigan State overall is a great thing, they have a tremendous program, they have been doing things so well for so long.

On the importance of early shooting...
First, Zack Novak started with the four-point play and makes a heavily guarded shot; Draymond Green has some long arms. So the fact that Zack could get us to be competitive was very important. In terms of rebounding, you have to make people miss shots...Today I think we guarded fairly well and I think MSU missed a few easy ones. Regardless we did get the rebounds; they started off with four offensive rebounds in the start first half and I don't believe they got another one for the rest of the half. We are getting better. Tim Hardaway did a good job today and Novak always does.

On this win being able to change the rest of the season...
I think I will be able to answer that question in March. What is important now is to get the proverbial bounce-back in our steps. The practice for tomorrow and the next day in preparation for Iowa will be a lot different than it was if we would have loss tonight. My guys are sick of going to practice after a loss.

On Draymond Green and Delvon Roe...
Teams will go through ups and downs. We have done a lot of different things against Michigan State in the past. We just tried to stay at home with them today as much as we could. We put Zack on Draymond and Jordan Morgan on Delvon to try and keep them off the boards. Maybe we didn't get the rebound, but we didn't let them get the rebound either.

On the clutch shots...
Stu Douglass has a tendency to rush his shots. The shot he took before that last one was even more open, but he rushed it and I didn't even know if he would get the second shot off before the shot clock. But he is a very good shooter and he got it off quick enough. He has made big shots for us before, but never like that one. We haven't had a big shot that determined the game like that since probably against Minnesota a couple years ago. He has worked hard at his game and I know he is very happy tonight. The other shot, the step-back jump shot in the foul-line area was big too because MSU was really making a big run at that time.
