EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State Spartans Basketball Post-Game Quotes Jan. 28, 2006 Michigan State vs. Penn State
Penn State head coach Ed DeChellis
Opening statement... "I thought we competed and played hard, and had a chance to win. We had the lead at halftime, we had the lead back-and-forth in the second half, and I thought we had a chance to win. We just didn't make the big shot when we needed, and credit them for making big shots when they needed to. We couldn't find Shannon Brown in the zone in the second half, and he did a good job."
On the play of Shannon Brown... "He stepped up and made some big shots when they needed them, and he's a very good player. The team found him offensively and he did a good job making the baskets. A lot of it came off Neitzel's penetration, which I thought he did a very nice job of tonight."
Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo
Opening Statement... "It's hard when you play a tough game against a guy with as much class as (PSU head coach) Ed DeChellis. I'm glad we overcame some issues and won the game, but his guys played their tail off. I told the media last week that I like their team."
On his players...
"I was concerned about the game, especially when I found out that Paul (Davis) was not going to be able to play. Then one of our best players, Maurice (Ager) got better looks than he had all season and it just wasn't his day. Shannon (Brown) was great. I don't even think we took him out during the second half. I was happy with the way that (Drew) Neitzel picked it up and really ran the team."
