Michigan State vs. Ohio State
Post Game Quotes
Ohio State Head Coach Thad Matta Opening Statement... "Certainly for us it was a great win on the road tonight. I am really proud of our guys and the effort they gave tonight. Going into the second half we tried to focus on doing a better job of rebounding and I think we did that. We hit some real big shots and free throws down the stretch and our all of our guys played hard and contributed when they were on the floor."
On his team's defense... "Our awareness was much better tonight than it was in game one. I think last time we lost our heads on occasion and gave them a lot of easy baskets. Tonight we were very solid with our team defense."
On the absence of Matt Trannon... "That is a huge blow for their team. I think he had 14 points and 11 rebounds against us the last time. He's a senior and he brings a lot of leadership and maturity to their lineup. Its very disruptive, especially on defense, to lose a guy like Matt Trannon."
Michigan State Head Coach Tom Izzo Opening Statement... "I thought our start really hurt us. In the first half, it seemed like most of the plays we ran went down, and we held them on the three-point shots after their first couple shots right at the beginning - and we rebounded the ball a lot. In the second half, we got the lead and played well enough, but there were a couple of stretches that wore us down a little bit. Hats off to them - they played a great game, especially the last four minutes."
On the poor rebounding in the second half...
"I don't think it was fatigue, I just think we didn't go after the ball as well in the second half as we did in the first. It wasn't just the last four minutes, it was the entire second half."
