EAST LANSING, Mich. - In an afternoon highlighted by several dunks and long-range shooting, Chris Allen led all scorers with 22 points as Green defeated White, 78-71, in the men's basketball Green and White game on Oct. 24 at the Breslin Center. Allen was one of eight Spartans to play for both squads, scoring 13 points in the first half for White and nine in the second for Green. As a team, Michigan State shot 48.3 percent from the field and an impressive 44.8 percent from 3-point range.
Kalin Lucas played nearly every minute of the contest for Green, scoring 19 points and dishing out seven assists. He shot 7-of-14 from the field, including 4-of-5 from behind the 3-point arc. Isaiah Dahlman was impressive, scoring 18 points, including 14 for White, shooting 5-of-8 from the field and 2-of-3 from 3-point range.
Delvon Roe led all players with 13 rebounds, adding 17 points and four blocks. Draymond Green equaled his 17 points and pulled down nine rebounds of his own. Durrell Summers and Raymar Morgan each scored 13 points, as Summers grabbed five rebounds and Morgan had a balanced game with four assists and three boards.
White held a 42-41 lead at the half behind 14 points from Dahlman. Allen scored 13 to keep Green within a point. In the second half, Lucas led Green with 10 points and five assists, and got assistance from Morgan (9 points), Summers (8 pts.) and Green (7 pts.). Allen (9 pts.) and Roe (8 pts., 7 reb.) turned in strong efforts for White.
Michigan State will open its exhibition season on Nov. 1 against Northwood at 4 p.m.
