With the win, Michigan State...

Player notes...
Keith Appling scored 14 points, which ranks fifth most for a Spartan in his freshman debut...Appling was 3-of-4 shooting from the field and 7-of-7 from the line.

Adreian Payne scored 10 points and collected seven rebounds...the seven boards tie for fifth most by a Spartan in his freshman debut.

Draymond Green tied his career high with seven assists (7 vs. UT-Arlington, 12/30/09)...Green scored in double-figures for the 23rd time in his career (MSU record: 17-6) as he poured in 12 points...Green also had eight rebounds and three blocks in the game.

Kalin Lucas led the Spartans in scoring with 18 marks the 32nd time in his career he has led the team in scoring (MSU record: 25-7) also marks the 80th time he has scored in double-figures (MSU record: 65-15)...Lucas also had six assists and was 7-for-7 from the line.

Garrick Sherman collected a career-high eight rebounds and tied his career high with eight points (8 vs. IPFW, 12/19/09)...Sherman, who only scored more than five points twice all of last season, scored the first five points of the game...he also had a career-high two steals and tied a career high with 15 minutes.

Durrell Summers was second on the team in scoring with 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the marks the 44th time Summers has scored in double-figures in his career (MSU record: 32-12).

• Austin Thorton scored a career-high 10 points and tied a career high with five rebounds...he also played a career-high 22 minutes, made a career high four free throws, and tied his career high in steals (2) and assists (2).

Team notes...
• The Spartans made 28 free throws on 42's the most made free throws for the Spartans since going 28-for-36 at the line against Old Dominion in the first round of the 2005 NCAA Tournament on March 18, 2005, in Worcester, Mass...the school record for free throws made in a game is 42 against Oklahoma on Dec. 6, 2003...the 42 attempts were the most for the Spartans since shooting 48 against the Sooners in that same game on Dec. 6, 2003.

• The Spartans had 10 blocks in the game, which tied for second-most in a game in school history (record: 13 vs. San Jose State).

• Michigan State had six players score in double-figures (Lucas-18; Summers-17; Appling-14; Green-12; Payne-10; Thornton-10).
