Michigan State turned in its best defensive performance of the season, holding FIU to 19 first-half points, and 58 points for the game.
Maurice Ager grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds and scored 18 points, giving him a double-double for the second consecutive game.
Four Spartans scored in double-figures for the fourth time this season. Shannon Brown led the team with 20 points, while Maurice Ager and Paul Davis scored 18 points each, and Drew Neitzel recorded 11 points.
Freshman Idong Ibok recorded three blocks and played eight minutes, both career highs for a game.
Neitzel recorded five assists and zero turnovers, improving his assist-to-turnover ratio over the past five games to 7.5 (30 assists, 4 turnovers)
With his 11-rebound performance, Paul Davis moved into 10th place on MSU's all-time rebounding list with 722 career boards, surpassing Horace Walker.
The Spartans out-rebounded FIU 51-26, the largest rebounding margin on the season. MSU out-rebounded Arizona 43-23 at the Maui Invitational.
Michigan State recorded assists on 21 of its 27 baskets, its best percentage on the season.
