-- Michigan State is off to its best start since the 2000-01 team started 12-0. It is also the team's second-best start after 12 games under coach Tom Izzo.
-- With the win, MSU evened the all-time series against Texas 2-2 and improved to 8-2 all-time at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
-- Michigan State, the only team currently ranked in the Top 25 to have played four ranked opponents, is 3-1 this season against teams ranked in the AP Top 25.
-- Michigan State committed a season-low seven turnovers. The Spartans' previous turnover low was 10, which occured vs. North Carolina State on Nov. 28. It was MSU's lowest miscue total since Dec. 23, 2006, when MSU committed seven against Green Bay.
-- The Spartans, who entered Saturday night's contest shooting 49.5 percent from the field, shot 49.1 percent (28-for-57) from the floor.
-- Sophomore forward Raymar Morgan scored 18 points and has now scored in double-figures in every game this season.
-- Senior guard Drew Neitzel scored 12 points and had two assists. He now has 493 career assists, pushing him past Earvin Johnson for fifth place on MSU's all-time list.
-- Freshman guard Kalin Lucas scored a career-high 18 points. He also totaled career highs in field goals (8), field goal attempts (18) and rebounds (6).
-- Junior center Goran Suton scored 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Suton has scored in double-figures five times this season, and MSU is 5-0 in those contests. It was also his sixth game this season with at least nine rebounds.
