Coppin State Head Coach Ron "Fang" Mitchell Opening Statement... "We came out and we knew that it was going to be tough to play against Michigan State, so we wanted to shorten the clock a little bit and play our offense, try to take only good shots and we were pretty successful in the first half. I'm always looking for the chance to win so beginning the second half we came out and played like we normally would play - like we could win the game."

Comparing Michigan State and Illinois... "Michigan State is more physical than Illinois, but they are both very athletic teams. Both teams shoot the ball and it's going to be a battle, but both teams are good and that will be a tough one to call."

Michigan State Head Coach Tom Izzo Opening Statement... "That was a difficult game to coach, and a difficult game to play. I told our team, we've played every style and covered the gambit during this preseason, from tall, short, quick, shooters, rebounders, and this was the final chapter. This was the final team to play that was going to bring a whole other style, and that was difficult for us. I was probably most pleased with the crowd, it was unbelievable."

On the team's play... "I thought Maurice Ager might have had his best all-around game. He was unbelievable in the huddles, he was trying to get other guys shots, he made some passes, he made some shots, and his defense was the best it's been. Believe it or not we did a pretty good job defensively. We stopped the penetration for the most part, and they made some threes, but give them credit. But we had 19 assists on 26 baskets, committed only 12 turnovers, and out-rebounded them 44-26.
