Jan. 26, 2012
EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State senior forward Draymond Green is one of 10 finalists for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence - community, classroom, character and competition. The finalists were chosen by a media committee from the list of preseason candidates announced in November. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to determine the winner. Fans are encouraged to vote on either the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award website (www.seniorclassaward.com) or the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award Facebook fan page (www.facebook.com/LowesSeniorCLASSAward) through March 18. Fan votes will be combined with media and Division I men's and women's basketball head coaches' votes to determine the winner. Through 21 games, Green is averaging 15.3 points and a Big Ten-best 10.4 rebounds. He leads the conference and ranks among the national leaders with 11 double-doubles. He's shown his versatility as he ranks second on the squad and ninth in the Big Ten with 3.7 assists per game. Joining Green as finalists are William Buford (Ohio State), Ashton Gibbs (Pittsburgh), Mick Hedgepath (Belmont), Robbie Hummel (Purdue), Quin McDowell (William and Mary), Ronald Nored (Butler), Zack Novak (Michigan), Zack Rosen (Pennsylvania) and Tyler Zeller (North Carolina).
