EAST LANSING, Mich. - Two Michigan State basketball players have earned Big Ten weekly honors, as announced by the conference on Monday (Jan. 30). Draymond Green was named the Co-Big Ten Men's Basketball Player of the Week, while Branden Dawson earned the title of Big Ten Freshman of the Week.
Green scored 22 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and added six assists in Michigan State's 68-52 win over Minnesota. The senior shot 82 percent from the field, converting on nine of 11 field goal attempts, including all eight from two-point range. He recorded his 11th double-double of the season against the Gophers, good for first in the Big Ten. This is Green's third career weekly award and second this season.
Dawson earns his first weekly award after posting a career-high 16 points, along with four rebounds and four blocks, in Michigan State's win over Minnesota. He made seven of 10 field goal attempts en route to a 70 percent field goal percentage, while ten of his 16 points came in the second half.
