Bridges Named Second Team All-American by NABC
East Lansing, Mich. - Michigan State men’s basketball sophomore guard/forward Miles Bridges was named a Second Team All-American by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) on Wednesday morning.
This is one of several All-American honors for Bridges, who earned second team national honors from The Sporting News, the United States Basketball Writers Association and USA Today.
Bridges, who was a unanimous All-Big Ten First Team selection this year, led Michigan State in scoring with 17.0 points per game, was second on the team with 7.0 rebounds and third on the team with 2.8 assists per game. He ranked sixth in the Big Ten in scoring, 11th in rebounding and fourth in the league in free throw percentage (85.3 percent).
He was one of only four players in the country averaging at least 17.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 0.8 blocks per game.
Bridges was also selected to the National Ballot for the John R. Wooden Award®, is one of five finalists for the Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year Award, is one of 10 national semifinalists competing for the 50th Citizen Naismith Trophy for Men’s College Player of the Year and is on the watch list for the Oscar Robertson Trophy.
Michigan State finished the 2017-18 season with a 30-5 overall record and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament after winning the Big Ten Regular Season Championship.
