Adreian Payne Will Compete In College Slam Dunk Championship
Spartan forward will show off his skills Thursday night on ESPN.

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State senior forward Adreian Payne will participate in the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships at 9 p.m. ET Thursday, April 3 at Moody Coliseum on the campus of Southern Methodist University in Dallas. The 26th-annual event, which will air live on ESPN, features 24 of college basketball's top dunkers and long-range shooters.
Individual elements of the contest include: Quicken Loans Men's 3-Point Championship, Buick Women's 3-Point Championship, Echo Battle of the Champions and Denny's Slam Dunk Championship.
Payne averaged 16.4 points and 7.3 rebounds for the Spartans this season, earning Second-Team All-Big Ten honors NABC (second-team) and USBWA All-District accolades. In the postseason, he was named to the Big Ten Tournament All-Tournament Team and made the East Regional All-Tournament Team. He finishes his career as one of nine players in MSU history with 1,200 career points and 700 career rebounds, and as the MSU leader in career blocks (141). In the second round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament, he scored an MSU NCAA Tournament record 41 points against Delaware. Payne owns a 38-inch no-step vertical jump - the best mark of the Tom Izzo era.
Other participants include Cory Jefferson (Baylor), Cleanthony Early (Wichita State), Chase Fieler (Florida Gulf Coast), Marcus Lewis (Eastern Kentucky), Michael Craig (Southern Miss), Walt Lemon, Jr. (Bradley) and Ronald Roberts, Jr. (Saint Joseph's). Competitors in the 3-point championship include Akeem Richmond (East Carolina), Joe Harris (Virginia), Travis Bader (Oakland), Ethan Wragge (Creighton), Luke Hancock (Louisville), Brady Heslip (Baylor), Marshall Henderson (Ole Miss), and Andre Dawkins (Duke).
