EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's basketball team will play Syracuse in the 2010 Jimmy V Classic in New York's Madison Square Garden on Dec. 7. The game will be televised by ESPN (9 p.m.) and be the second game of a doubleheader, following Kansas-Memphis (7 p.m.). Tickets for the Jimmy V Men's Basketball Classic will go on sale in September via Ticketmaster and at the Madison Square Garden Box Office.
Michigan State is 2-0 all-time in the Jimmy V Classic. The Spartans defeated Seton Hall (72-57) on Dec. 19, 2000, in East Rutherford, N.J., and beat Boston College (77-70) on Dec. 10, 2005, at Madison Square Garden. MSU is looking to become the first team to record three wins in the 16-year history of the classic.
Syracuse leads the all-time series with Michigan State, 9-7. Most recently, the Orange defeated the Spartans, 96-83, on Jan. 3, 2004, in Syracuse, N.Y. MSU's last win in the series was a 75-58 victory in the Sweet 16 of the 2000 NCAA Tournament at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
