EAST LANSING, Mich. - On Monday, June 24, Adreian Payne will begin tryouts for the 2013 USA Basketball Men's World University Games Team. Payne is one of 27 athletes attempting to secure one of 12 spots on the team during tryouts June 24-30 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. Earlier this week, Payne sat down with Michigan State All-Access and shared his thoughts on the experience.
Payne expressed what an honor it would be to represent his country, but also how the experience could help him improve as a basketball player. "Instead of just working out all summer, I get to play some real good competition and some real games," he said.
If he makes the team, Payne will represent USA Basketball at the World University Games July 7-16 in Kazan, Russia.
