Fourteen Spartan Football Players Earn Academic All-Big Ten Honors

In the first six seasons under head coach Mark Dantonio, 70 student-athletes have been named Academic All-Big Ten.

CAREER NOTES: Four-year letterwinner saw action in 28 career games, including three starts . . . became just the 17th four-time Academic All-Big Ten selection in MSU history.

2012 SEASON (SENIOR): Appeared in nine games, including two starts (left guard vs. Notre Dame; center vs. Indiana) . . . recipient of the team's Jim Adams Award (unsung hero - offense) . . . played a career-high 258 snaps during the regular season . . . recorded 14 knockdowns, including four dominators . . . did not start, but saw a majority of the snaps at center in the win at Indiana . . . filled in for injured starter Travis Jackson at center in the Ohio State game . . . . started at left guard vs. No. 20 Notre Dame.

2011 SEASON (JUNIOR): Academic All-Big Ten selection for the third-straight year . . . saw action in 12 games, primarily on special teams . . . started at center in the win over Minnesota.

2010 SEASON (SOPHOMORE): Academic All-Big Ten selection . . . appeared in four games in 2010 (vs. Western Michigan, Northern Colorado, Minnesota and Alabama) while working behind Joel Foreman at left guard . . . played a career-best 40 snaps vs. Northern Colorado.

2009 SEASON (FRESHMAN): Saw action in three games in 2009 (vs. Montana State, Notre Dame and Western Michigan) to earn his first letter . . . played 20 snaps at left guard in the second half at Notre Dame after Joel Foreman left the game with an injury . . . also took snaps at center in his collegiate debut vs. Montana State following an injury to starter Joel Nitchman.

2008 SEASON: Redshirted.

HIGH SCHOOL AND PERSONAL DATA: Named to Tom Lemming's Prep Football Report All- America Team . . . rated among the nation's top offensive guards by (No. 29) and (No. 38) . . . selected to SuperPrep's and PrepStar's All-Midwest Teams . . . ranked among the state's top seniors by The Detroit News (No. 7), Lansing State Journal (No. 12), (No. 12), (No. 18) and Detroit Free Press (No. 21) . . . represented the East in the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association All-Star Game in Spartan Stadium . . . named to The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press Dream Teams . . . selected to The Detroit News All-North and All-Metro Teams . . . two-year starter at left tackle for Coach Chris Bell at Lake Orion (Mich.)
