Thirteen Spartan Football Players Earn Academic All-Big Ten Honors

In the first five seasons under head coach Mark Dantonio, 56 student-athletes have been named Academic All-Big Ten.

2011 SEASON (RED-SHIRT FRESHMAN): Was one of 14 freshmen starting punters in the FBS (true and redshirt) . . . averaged 41.1 yards per punt . . . placed 41 percent (25-of-61) of his punts inside the 20 . . . tied for 12th in the FBS with 25 punts inside the 20 . . . also pinned 11 punts inside the 10, which tied for eighth most in the nation . . . had six punts of 50-plus yards . . . selected to the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-America Team (second team) for his 4.0 GPA in applied engineering sciences . . . also a CoSIDA Academic All-District V first-team selection and an Academic All-Big Ten honoree . . . earned Freshman All-America honors by Phil Steele (third team) and CollegeFootballNews.com (honorable mention) . . . named to ESPN.com, Yahoo!
