Michigan State Head Coach Mark Dantonio

Opening statement
"I thought our guys came out and played hard today. Our goal was to get our first road win and eliminate some mistakes that we had last week. We also wanted to get our wide-outs and our quarterback Maxwell going earlier in the game and I believe that we did that."

"I'm proud of our team for winning our first road game against a very competitive team."

On increasing the lead before halftime...
"Getting a score right after the interception, in a two-minute situation, was a big game changer for us. I believe that is what allowed us to come out and have a successful first drive in the second half."

On the challenges with the wind...
"It was a very windy day that made throwing deep a challenge for our quarterback. Sometimes the only way that you can grow is by experiencing adversity and learning how to play through it."

"Handling the wind shows how composed and resilient Maxwell is and definitely serves as a confidence booster for him in future games."

On what allowed Michigan State to win the game...
"We ran the ball decently but somehow managed to throw the ball quite effectively. Our defense played very well and our special teams was solid."

"I was very impressed with my teams performance especially considering that we played 65 out of the 70 guys that traveled."

On the Chippewas' performance...
"I think Central is an improved football team even though the score might not reflect that. They played better on third down and had more success running the ball this game, then they have had in the past. I wish them the best this season."

Central Michigan Head Coach Dan Enos

"Obviously the game didn't go the way we wanted. Obviously they're a very good football team. I think early in the game we had chances to keep the game closer and we didn't make the plays. In the first half there were plays that we missed on that could have kept the game closer going into the third quarter."

"They capitalized on their opportunities and we were unable to do that, and when you play good teams it's difficult. We were minus three in the turnover margin. We got one at the end, but even with that we gave it up three times, and we can't do that against good football teams."

"We had zero penalties again for the second week in a row, but moving forward we have to eliminate those turnovers."

"We wanted to use the play action game to get matchups and to keep them off balance a little bit. We thought last year we had some opportunities where we had open receivers so we wanted to come back and do some of the same things."

"A couple times today we moved the ball well, especially against that defense. i think we established that if we can run the ball a little bit against these guys we should be able to run the ball against the teams in our league and be consistent with that. At the end of the day we're going to have a very good offensive football team."
