Post-Game Notes: Western Michigan

-MSU improved its series record to 9-2 vs. Western Michigan with a 49-14 victory vs. the Broncos before a crowd of 73,910 Saturday afternoon at Spartan Stadium...MSU is 6-0 vs. Western Michigan in Spartan Stadium and has won seven straight in the series...MSU has now won 23 of its last 26 against MAC teams...MSU has also won 15 of its last 21 non-conference games.
-MSU recorded its first 200-yard rushing game of the season with 219 yards on the ground...it also marked MSU's first 200-yard rushing game since recording 236 yards at Indiana last season.
-Ashton Leggett recorded career highs in rushing yards (110), carries (14) and touchdowns (4)...on MSU's first series of the game, he had a career-long 71-yard run for a touchdown...his four rushing TDs are the most for a Spartan since Javon Ringer scored five times last season vs. Eastern Michigan...Leggett is the first Spartan running back other than Javon Ringer to rush for 100 yards since Jehuu Caulcrick rushed for 111 yards on eight carries vs. Notre Dame in 2006.
-The Spartans scored a season-high 49 points, the most since they scored 52 vs. Indiana in 2007.
-Kirk Cousins threw for a career-high 353 yards, the most ever by a Spartan quarterback against Western Michigan and the seventh-best single-game total in MSU history...the previous high was 324 yards by Jeff Smoker in 2003...it marks his second career 300-yard passing game...it also was his fourth straight 200-yard game and the sixth of the season...Cousins now has 2,097 passing yards this season...Cousins threw for two TDs against WMU; he now has 14 this season, tying Bryan Clark (1981) for 10th most in a Spartan single-season.
-Blair White caught six passes for 70 yards, giving him 58 for the season, which ties Gari Scott for eighth most in MSU single-season history.
-Edwin Baker recorded 78 rushing yards on 15 carries; both marks represent career highs.
-Michigan State collected 602 total yards of offense, the first time MSU has gained 600 yards of total offense since recording a school-record 715 yards of total offense at Illinois in 2005...the 30 first downs for MSU are the most under Coach Dantonio (previous: 29 vs. Montana State)...the 602 yards of total offense also marks a single-game best for MSU under Dantonio.
-Western Michigan was limited to a season-low 211 yards of total offense.
-Greg Jones led the team with eight tackles, marking the 21st time in the last 23 games he has led the team in tackles...Jones recorded 1.5 sacks, giving him a team-best 7.5 for the season...Jones now has 33.5 tackles for loss in his career, which ties Mike Labinjo for fifth place all-time at MSU.
-Brett Swenson broke MSU's all-time PAT record in the game...he kicked seven PATs in the game, giving him 154 for his career...Swenson passed Dave Rayner, who had 148 from 2001-04.
-Mark Dell recorded a season-high 97 receiving yards on five catches.
-Brian Linthicum registered career highs in catches (4) and receiving yards (61).
-MSU held the advantage in time of possession (37:13 to 22:47)...MSU is 15-3 under Coach Dantonio when leading in time of possession, including a perfect 5-0 in 2009.
