EAST LANSING, Mich. – Following its win over No. 7 Penn State last Saturday, Michigan State made the biggest one-week jump in the four-year history of the College Football Playoff rankings by moving up 12 spots from No. 24 to No. 12, the CFP committee announced Tuesday night.

The Spartans (7-2, 5-1 Big Ten) are the highest ranked team in the Big Ten East Division, one spot ahead of No. 13 Ohio State (7-2, 5-1). MSU and OSU will meet on Saturday, Nov. 11 at noon in Ohio Stadium; the game will be televised nationally on FOX.

MSU has defeated two teams in the current CFP rankings (No. 14 Penn State, No. 20 Iowa). Both of the Spartans’ losses were to teams that are ranked (No. 3 Notre Dame, No. 25 Northwestern).
