"It's important that we continue to promote an environment that encourages and supports our student-athletes to pursue excellence, both in the classroom and on the playing field," MSU head coach Mark Dantonio said. "We congratulate these 14 student-athletes who represent Michigan State on the Academic All-Big Ten Team. They have done an outstanding job of managing their time, balancing the responsibilities that go along with being both a student and an athlete. They have set the standard for excellence in the classroom."
"As our players continue to compete at a high level under Coach Dantonio, so too do they continue to compete in the classroom," MSU Director of Academic Services for Student-Athletes Todd Edwards said. "Our measurables, such as graduation rates and Academic Progress Rate, continue their upward trends. More importantly, our guys continue to reinforce their commitment to the program's values of hard work and toughness to the classroom as well as the playing field. That's a reflection of our academic staff and Coach Dantonio's expectation and the standard that's been established. Hats off to all of our Academic All-Big Ten selections!"
