Men's Golf Sits Tied For Seventh After Day One Of Conrad Rehling Invite

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Michigan State men's golf sits in a four-way tie for seventh place after shooting 304 on day one of the Conrad Rehling Alabama Spring Invitational. The Spartans are tied with UAB, Notre Dame and Mississippi with the 304. "We were definitely rusty as far as competition," said MSU Head Coach Mark Hankins. "We were not happy with the way we played today and we are hoping to play better tomorrow." This year's tournament is being played at the par-71, 6,996-yard Capstone Club in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Jacksonville State sits atop the leader board with a 286, while Ole Miss is second with a 292 and Alabama third with a 293. Redshirt freshman Zac Zedrick (Danville, Ill.) shot a 1-over 73 on day one and is tied for 14th. Alabama's Lars Brovold is the individual leader after firing a 4-under 68 Friday, while Clint Provost (Alabama) and John Holmes (Kentucky) are second with a 3-under 69. Freshman Mitch Pierce recorded a 2-over 74 and is tied for 19th, while junior Andrew Ruthkoski (Muskegon, Mich.) is tied for 42nd with a 78. Senior Casey Lubahn (Sand Lake, Mich.), who was making his first appearance of the year, fired a 79 and is tied for 46th. Freshman Matt Harmon (Grand Rapids, Mich.) rounds out the Spartan line-up tied for 67th after posting an 83. Senior Ben Fox (Fort Wayne, Ind.), who is competing as an individual, shot an 8-over 80 on day one and sits tied for 60th. The second round of the Conrad Rehling Alabama Spring Invitational tees off Saturday (March 13), while the final round will be played on Sunday (March 14).
