GREENSBORO, Ga. - Midway through the second round of the Linger Longer Invitational at the Great Waters Course at Reynolds Plantation, the Michigan State men's golf team is in 11th place at 16-over par on Saturday. Play was suspended due to darkness and will resume tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. ET with the conclusion of the second round followed by the final round.
"Once again we got off to a very concerning start in some tough conditions, and put ourselves in a hole that we are trying to dig out of," said Spartan head coach Casey Lubahn. "That being said, we pulled together pretty well in the afternoon and are in a better position going in to the last 22 holes."
Senior Matthew Moseley is currently tied for 13th at 1-under par. He opened with a 2-over par 74 in the first round, and is 3-under through nine holes in the second round.
Freshman Mitch Rutledge is tied for 31st at 3-over par. He is 1-under in the second round with three holes to play, after an opening round 4-over 76. Senior Dan Ellis is tied for 45th at 6-over, while junior Carson Castellani is tied for 57th at 8-over par and classmate Gareth Blease is tied for 78th at 12-over.
No. 2 Alabama leads the field at 13-under par. No. 14 Oklahoma State and the host Kennesaw State is second at even par. Alabama's Cory Whitsett and Oklahoma's Michael Gellerman are on top of the individual leaderboard at 5-under par.
