EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's golf team finished in a tie for eighth at the FAU Spring Break Championship on Sunday. The Spartans shot a final round 15-over par 303 at the Legends course at Gleneagles Country Club in Delray Beach, Fla., to post a three round total of 30-over 894 (297-294-303).

Junior Chris Mory led the Spartans, tying for fifth with a career-low score of 3-under par 213 (69-69-75). It was Mory's second career top-5 finish, both this season. He led MSU with 12 birdies and an eagle for the tournament. Mory was also 5-under on the par-5s.

Final Results

After a team-best 1-under par 71 today, sophomore Matthew Moseley moved up into a tie for 11th at even par 216 (73-72-71). Moseley had nine birdies and played the par-4s at 2-under par in his three rounds.

Sophomore James Ross was the third Spartan, tying for 67th with three rounds of 5-over par 77, to total 15-over 231. Freshman Gareth Blease tied for 73rd at 18-over par 234 (78-76-80) and classmate Conor O'Neil tied for 85th at 31-over par 247 (85-80-82).

Ohio State led wire-to-wire, claiming the team title with a 12-under par 852 (278-281-293). The host Florida Atlantic was second with a 1-under 863 (292-291-280). The Buckeyes' Brad Smith came from behind to win the individual crown with a 54-hole total of 8-under par 208 (71-70-67).

The Spartans return to action next weekend for the UK Bluegrass Invitational in Lexington, Ky. on Saturday and Sunday.
