EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's golf team finished fifth at the Johnny Owens Invitational Saturday, finishing the tournament with a 307-293-301=901 score. Toledo captured the team title with a 291-288-292=871 effort, followed by Notre Dame (301-293-294=888) and U of D (299-298-296=893).
Senior John Ehrgott was the top finisher for the Spartans, carding a 73-71-77=221 to finish tied for 10th. Junior Matt Riegel was only one stroke behind, his 76-72-74=222 earning him a tie for 15th place. Junior Matt Pumford was not far behind, striking a 77-76-73=226 and tying for 30th. Junior Alberto Quevedo shot 81-74-77=232 to tie for 61st, while freshman Brent Goik ended the tournament tied for 77th after finishing with a 82-77-77=236.
MSU returns to the links April 10-11 when they head to Huntington, W.V. to take part in the Marshall Invitational.
