Men's Golf Places 10th at Hawkeye Invitational
Senior Dan Ellis led MSU with 13 birdies this weekend en route to his tie for 11th individually.

IOWA CITY, Iowa - The Michigan State men's golf team wrapped up competition at the Hawkeye-Great River Entertainment Invitational on Sunday at the Finkbine Golf Course. The Spartans finished 10th for the weekend at 36-over par 900 (307-290-303). Senior Dan Ellis led MSU with his best finish of the season, tying for 11th at 4-over par 220 (75-68-77).

Final Results

Ellis tied for third in the field and led MSU in both birdies with 13 and par-4 scoring at 1-over par. Today was Ellis' third top-20 of the season and 12th in his career.

Senior Matthew Moseley steadily improved each round to finish in a tie for 26th at 8-over par 224 (77-74-73), after leading MSU with a 1-over 73 today. Moseley was 10th in the field with a team-best 35 pars and was strong on the par-5s, shooting 5-under, which also led the team and was 10th overall this weekend.

Junior Carson Castellani was 14-over 230 (80-75-75) and tied for 45th. Senior Dave Ellis tied for 55th at 16-over 232 (81-73-78) and freshman Mitch Rutledge was 64th at 23-over 239 (75-85-79).

Kansas edged Iowa by one shot for the team title, shooting a 3-over par 867. The Jayhawks' Chris Gilbert and the Hawkeyes' Steven Ihm tied for the individual crown at 5-under par 211.

The Spartans return to action next weekend for the Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind. on April 20-21.
