ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Michigan State men's golf junior Dan Ellis shot an 8-over par 79 on Thursday at the University of Michigan Golf Course to sit in a tie for 65th after the first day of the NCAA Central Regional.
Ellis, who was making his NCAA debut, opened with bogeys on his first three holes, but followed by going 1-under on his next six holes, including a birdie on No. 6. His back nine opened with a bogey and two pars, however a string of three-straight bogeys on No. 13-15 and a double bogey on the 18th, dropped him down the leaderboard.
Ellis will tee off in tomorrow's second round at 9:40 a.m. ET off the 10th hole.
