Men's Golf Tied for Eighth at Northern Intercollegiate
Senior Matthew Moseley is tied for fifth, just two shots off the lead.
SUGAR GROVE, Ill. - With the conclusion of the second round delayed due to darkness, the Michigan State men's golf team sits in a tie for eighth at the Northern Intercollegiate. The Spartans are currently are 54-over par at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill.
Senior Matthew Moseley leads the Spartans through the first day, currently tied for fifth at 5-over par, just two shots off the lead. Moseley was the first round leader, after shooting a career-low 3-under par 68, but currently is 8-over thru 15 holes in his second round.
Making his collegiate debut, freshman Mitch Rutledge is tied for 14th (11-over) with a couple holes to play in her second round. Rutledge carded a 4-over par 75 in the first round.
Sophomore McCormick Clouser is tied for 38th at 17-over with a couple holes left to play in his second round. Senior Dave Ellis is tied for 50th at 21-over 163 (83-80) and junior Carson Castellani is tied for 62nd at 27-over 169 (86-83). Playing as an individual, senior Will Morris is 64th at 33-over 175 (86-89).
Indiana holds the first day lead after carding a two-round total of 31-over par 599. The Hoosiers lead St. Mary's (Calif.) by eight shots and Central Florida by 13 entering the final round.
There is a three-way tie for the individual lead, as Indiana's Michael McGee, St. Mary's Jonathan De Los Reye and Liberty's Chase Marinell are 3-over 145 through 36 holes.
Play will resume at 8:27 a.m. ET, with the unfinished groups and the beginning of the third round.
