EAST LANSING, Mich. - The 2013-14 season got underway on Sunday for the Michigan State men's golf team, as the Spartans teed it up at the Gopher Inviational. "We got off to a great start and then hit a rough stretch we couldn't get out of until we had dug a deep hole," said Spartan head coach Casey Lubahn. "I was proud of our response in the second round until the last couple holes. Our guys have got their feet wet and we need to keep seeing improvement every day."
"Carson was very steady as usually and put himself in position to have a nice finish tomorrow."
Castellani opened the season by matching his career low with a 1-under par 70, and followed up with a 1-over par 72 in the afternoon. Castellani posted team-highs with six birdies and 25 pars on the day.
