Men's Golf 11th After Monday at Adams Cup of Newport
Mory leads the Spartans in the tie for 16th after 36 holes.

NEWPORT, R.I. - The Michigan State men's golf opened play at the 17th annual Adams Cup of Newport on Monday, sitting in 11th place after 36 holes of action. The Spartans fired a two-round total of 40-over par 616 (314-302) at Newport National Golf Club in Newport, R.I.
Junior Chris Mory paced the MSU effort with a 6-over par 150 (75-75) to be in a tie for 16th. Sophomore James Ross is tied for 30th at 9-over 153 (80-73) and freshman Conor O'Neil is tied for 58th with a 14-over 158 (78-80). Rounding out the Spartans, junior Dave Ellis carded a 16-over 160 (81-79) to be in a tie for 69th, and freshman Carson Castellani shot a 20-over 164 (89-75) and is tied for 78th.
Central Florida leads the field with an opening day 5-over par 581 (295-286). UCF's Greg Eason holds the individual lead with a 1-under par 143 (74-69).
The tournament concludes tomorrow with the final 18 holes set to begin at 8 a.m.
