Men’s Golf Tied for Eighth Place After Two Rounds at the Bearcat Invitational
Michael Sharp is tied for sixth place at 7-under-par.
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Michigan State men’s golf team is tied for eighth place after two rounds at the Bearcat Invitational at Coldstream Country Club in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Spartans shot an even-par 568 after a 2-over-par 286 in round one and a 2-under-par 282 in the second round in the play six, count four format.
Kentucky leads the field after a 21-under-par 547 (278-269), followed by Arkansas at 17-under-par 551 (278-273).
Senior Michael Sharp is tied for sixth place after he produced a pair of rounds in the 60s. Sharp is 7-under-par 135 after an opening-round 3-under-par 68 and second round 4-under-par 67. Six of Sharp’s 11 birdies on the day came in round two, including three consecutive over the final six holes.
Sharp’s 67 tied his career best.
Freshman James Piot is 2-over-par 144. He shot a 2-over-par 73 to begin the day and followed it with an even-par 71 in round two, becoming one of four Spartans to improve their score from round one to round two.
The Spartans will begin the final round on Tuesday on the 10th hole, teeing off between 8:35-9:25 a.m. at the par-71, 7,111-yard course.
