EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's golf team heads south this weekend to continue its spring season, playing in the Linger Longer Invitational. Competition at the Great Waters Golf Club at Reynolds Plantation (par 72, 7,073 yards) in Greensboro, Ga., begins with 36 holes on Saturday at 8:30 a.m., and concludes Sunday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
"The Linger Longer is one of the great events on the spring schedule and Great Waters Golf Club is a great test," said Spartan head coach Casey Lubahn. "I expect us to continue to do the things that have led to success this spring so far; focus on controlling our golf ball and making smart strategic decisions. It will be important we have a good day Friday to put us in the best position to start strong Saturday morning."
Rutledge, who tied for 28th, and Castellani, who was 54th, played in the tournament last season, as the Spartans placed 10th.
This year's Linger Longer field includes No. 1 Alabama, Charlotte, Chattanooga, No. 26 Clemson, Furman, No. 5 Georgia, No. 37 Kennesaw State, No. 41 Liberty, No. 33 Mercer, No. 47 North Florida, No. 15 Oklahoma, South Alabama, Southern Mississippi and Yale.

Individually, four MSU golfers placed in the top-10, led by Netzel winning his first collegiate event. Lappin made his Spartan stroke play debut, tying for fourth, while Rutledge was sixth and Finley was 10th.
