EAST MOLINE, Ill. - Michigan State junior Jack Newman was one of four golfers awarded a sponsor exemption to the PGA Tour's John Deere Classic. The tournament will be held July 9-12 at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill. Tournament director Clair Peterson identified the four recipients on Monday.
Newman, who is fresh off an appearance at the Masters, received a sponsor exemption along with Clemson junior Kyle Stanley, UCLA sophomore Philip Francis and Brady Schnell, the leading money winner on the Gateway Tour's Desert Spring Series.
"Once again this year, the John Deere Classic is proud of its tradition of providing up-and-coming young players an opportunity to compete against the best in the world," Peterson said. "As a result, we have been able to bring many future stars to our tournament, including the likes of Tiger Woods, Zach Johnson, Camillo Villegas, David Toms, Nick Watney, Lucas Glover, Webb Simpson, and others."
