EAST LANSING, Mich. - Former Michigan State men's golfer Matt Harmon won his third career NGA Hooters Tour event on Sunday, edging Blaine Peffley in a playoff, to claim the Crystal Lake Open title. Harmon shot a 14-under par 202 (66-70-66) this weekend at Crystal Lake Golf and Country Club in Hampton, Ga. to win $31,650.
Harmon, who posted 16 birdies and an eagle in his three rounds, is currently fourth on the 2010 NGA Hooters Professional Tour money list through the first five events.
Harmon was not the only former Spartan to have professional success this weekend, as Randy Hutchison tied for third in the Canadian Tour's Riviera Nayarit Classic, held at the Litibu Golf Club in Nayarit, Mexico. Hutchison, who shot a 19-under par 269 (69-62-69-69), posted his best finish as a professional. Hutchison had 22 birdies and an eagle, and earned $6,750.
