Rutledge Advances to Match Play at U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship
Former Spartan Brandon Cigna also qualified through to the round of 64.

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Rising sophomore Mitch Rutledge and former Spartan Brandon Cigna advanced through to the match play portion of the 2013 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship on Tuesday at Laurel Hill Golf Club in Lorton, Va.
Rutledge was among a group tied for 54th at 5-over par 145 (74-71). The group of 13 needed a playoff for the final 11 spots in the match play bracket. Rutledge posted a par on the first hole (No. 16) to advance. He will square off with Kyle Jones on Wednesday at 11:40 a.m. ET in the first round.
Cigna tied for 39th at 3-over par 143 (72-71) over the first two days and will face Zac Blair in the round of 64 on Wednesday.
