Three Spartans Named Big Ten Men's Golfers to Watch

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Big Ten Conference released its list of Men's Golfers to Watch for the 2013-14 season on Wednesday. Included on the list was Michigan State senior Carson Castellani, sophomore Mitch Rutledge and freshman Charlie Netzel.
Castellani had a breakout season in 2012-13 for the Spartans, posting a career-best 76.64 scoring average, while playing in all 12 events. He totaled four top-20 finishes and had 23 of his 27 competitive rounds counted.
Rutledge had a solid freshman season with the Spartans, finishing third on the team with a 75.7 scoring average and also had three top-20 events. He had a great summer, advancing to match play at the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship and qualifying for the U.S. Amateur.
Netzel is looking to make an impression in his first season in East Lansing.
The Spartans open the season this weekend, when they travel to Minneapolis for the Gopher Invitational on September 8-9.
