EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's golf team remains in-state for its second tournament of the fall, traveling to Ann Arbor for the Wolverine Intercollegiate. Play at the University of Michigan Golf Course begins with 36 holes on Monday at 8:45 a.m. ET, followed by the final 18 holes on Tuesday.
"This is an important week for us and our guys," said Spartan head coach Casey Lubahn. "We have had a couple weeks to get our feet wet and is important we start applying all of the lessons from our early season. Our guys have a lot of experience on this golf course and it should help us to feel comfortable right away. A good practice round and taking care of the details will be extremely important."
The Spartans will have the same competitive lineup as last week, including senior Carson Castellani, sophomore Mitch Rutledge, redshirt freshman Sean Friel, and freshmen Charlie Netzel and Sam Weatherhead. Junior Jon Finley will play playing as an individual.
Joining Michigan and Michigan State in the field is Detroit, Eastern Michigan, Lamar, Miami (Ohio), Oakland, Penn State, San Jose State, Toledo and Xavier.
Last week in their season opener, the Spartans finished 10th at the Gopher Invitational. Castellani led the MSU effort, placing 19th overall with a career-low 218.
MSU last competed in this tournament in 2011, when it finished third.
