EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's golf team will host the second-annual Spartan Classic this weekend at The Kingsley Club in Kingsley, Mich. The tournament is scheduled to begin on Saturday at 9 a.m. with 36 holes, followed by a 9:30 a.m. start on Sunday for the final 18 holes.

This year's Spartan Classic field includes: California, Charleston Southern, Cleveland State, Columbia, Detroit, Duquesne, Evansville, Jackson State, Michigan State (A and B), Northern Illinois, Oakland, San Francisco, Santa Clara and UC-Davis.

The Kingsley Club, opened in 2001, plays nearly 7,000 yards at a par 71. Golfweek recently ranked the Kingsley Club the 20th best Modern Course (1960-present) in the country, while Footjoy tabbed it as one of the "greatest walks in golf."

The Spartans return to Michigan after opening the season with a seventh-place showing at the Topy Cup in Tanagura, Japan. All 10 MSU golfers will be participating this weekend, split between two squads.
