Spartans Back in Action at the Crooked Stick Invitational

EAST LANSING - The Michigan State men’s golf team returns to action early next week at the Crooked Stick Invitational in Carmel, Indiana. The tournament will take place Oct. 16-17 at Crooked Stick Golf Club.

Par: 72
Yardage: 7,290
Schedule of Play: Monday - 36 holes of continuous play beginning with a 9 a.m. shotgun start
Tuesday – 18 holes with tee times ranging from 9 -10:30 a.m.

TOURNAMENT HISTORY
The Spartans are making their second appearance at the Crooked Stick Invitational as they last played in the tournament in 2013, taking 14th place.

The tournament, hosted by Indiana, has been played three times since 2010 – 2010, 2013 and 2015.

THE COURSE
Designed by Pete Dye, Crooked Stick has hosted five USGA Championships, including the 1991 PGA Championship, 1993 U.S. Women’s Open and 2009 U.S. Senior Open. The course also hosted the 2016 BMW Championship. The course will play at 7,290 yards for the Crooked Stick Invitational.

TOURNAMENT FIELD (GCAA Rankings as of Sept. 29)
A total of 12 teams will be in the field: Ball State, Georgia, Indiana, No. 14 Illinois, IUPUI, No. 9 Kentucky, Michigan State, North Florida, Purdue, South Carolina, Toledo and Xavier.

THE LAST TIME OUT
The Spartans took fifth place in the highly-competitive, 15-team field at the Marquette Intercollegiate, Oct. 1-3, at Erin Hills in Wisconsin. MSU finished 30-over-par 894 (298-295-301). Kaleb Johnson led all Spartans individually by placing 10th, finishing 2-over-par 218 (76-71-71).
