Michigan State sophomore goaltender Jake Hildebrand has been named one of the Big Ten's Three Stars of the Week, it was announced today by the conference office. Hildebrand was named the second star after leading all Big Ten goalies with 79 saves last weekend.
Top-ranked Minnesota scored three-straight goals, including two in the first period, and went on to defeat Michigan State, 3-2, on Saturday afternoon at Munn Ice Arena. Villiam Haag scored a power-play goal in the second period for MSU and Mike Ferrantino added another in the final second of the game.
Villiam Haag provided the offense. Jake Hildebrand delivered with great defense. The combination, along with a hard-nosed, gritty effort by several other Michigan State players, made for an excellent Big Ten debut by the Spartans against the No. 1 team in the nation.
