Signed a professional contract with the Edmonton Oilers on March 26, foregoing his senior season of collegiate eligibility.

2008-09 (Junior): AHCA/Reebok Second Team All-American ... Second Team All-CCHA ... Voted one of two team captains during pre-season camp by his teammates ... Played in all 38 games, paired with rookie Torey Krug ... Ranked third on the team in scoring with four goals and a team-best 25 assists ... Finished a +1 and had 13/26 PIM ... Ranked second on the team in blocked shots (59) ... Ranked 11th in the country in defenseman points and tied for 18th in points per game by a defenseman (0.72) ...
