Slater Named to 2018 U.S. Olympic Team

Two former Spartans will be playing in this year’s Winter Games.

2002-03: Played in 36 games with 11-18--29 totals • Closed season with career-best six-game point streak (4-5--9) • Scored game-winning goal with 2.7 seconds left vs. Lake Superior State (Oct. 25) • Posted second game-winning goal with 1:07 left in overtime vs. Niagara (Nov. 9) • Drew an assist on MSU's fourth goal at Minnesota (Nov. 29) • Career high two assists at Ferris State (Dec. 6) • Scored first goal since Nov. 9 in 5-3 loss vs. Ferris State (Dec. 7) • Tallied a goal and an assist vs. Michigan Tech (Dec. 29) in GLI third-place game • Scored game winner and added an assist in 5-2 win over UNO (Jan. 17) for third multiple-point game of year • Added a goal and an assist in 3-3 overtime tie at Notre Dame (Jan. 25) • Tallied a goal and an assist vs. Miami (Jan. 31) • Posted a pair of assists to equal his career best in 7-4 win vs. Northern Michigan (Feb. 21) • Had a pair of assists, including one of the game winner, in 4-0 shutout at WMU (March 7) • First career hat trick in 11-1 win over UAF (March 14) • Scored MSU's third goal in CCHA Quarterfinal loss to NMU.

PRIOR TO MSU: Spent the 2000-01 season with the Newmarket Hurricanes of Ontario's Provincial Junior A Hockey League • Ranked second among Hurricane skaters in points with 30-39--69 in 48 games • 69 points ranked eighth in the OPJHL's Northern Division • Honored as Northern Division's Most Improved Player in 2001 • Helped Newmarket to a 37-7-2-3 record - the Provincial League's best regular-season mark - and a second-place showing in the Northern Division playoffs • Joined the Hurricanes after spending the 1999-2000 campaign with the Aurora Tigers, where he had 10-22--32 in 46 games • Attended the Ontario Under-17 team tryout camp.
