Michigan State Senior Kurt Kivisto

On what they need to work on against Michigan...
One of the things we have to do is run down through the neutral zone and not let them coming roaring at us like they have been in the past. We did a decent job of that in the first two periods but then it kind of fell apart in the third period.

On how he felt on defense...
I felt fine. It was a little bit of an adjustment coming from forward to move back to defense. I practiced a little back there during the course of the year. I've been doing it a little bit here and there so I thought the adjustment was decent for me.

On how they can rebound tomorrow...
We just have to play for 60 minutes. You can't play for 20 or 40. You have to be focused and be ready to go for the full 60 minutes, along with doing what we did the first two periods tonight.

On the missed goal opportunity in the second period...
That definitely is a bit of a momentum boost. It's kind of a two goal swing. The game could've been 2-1 and half a minute later it ends up in our net and it's 3-1.It is a little bit of a momentum swing in their direction, but we've been down before this year so I don't think heads were down too low. We just have to keep battling back. It was still 3-1 in the third. We can score more than two goals in a period. We just need to come out ready to play in the third period and be a lot more aggressive.

On another loss...
Yeah, they just keep pilling up. We just don't do enough to make it tough on the other team. Once we get down we just have to have some resiliency, keep playing and fighting. It's frustrating on my part. All the sudden we're down three and we can't play. We need to get some mental toughness and compete for 60 minutes.

On coming out strong in the third period...
We had some good chatter in the locker room and thought we were going to come out flying. We had a couple of shots on the power play, but we just don't make it tough enough for the goaltenders against us. Then they come down and get a lucky one of our defenseman's skate. That's kind of how it's been going, and after that they took control of the game. We just can't let that happen.

On the youth of the team...
Most of the guys haven't been in this situation before. We don't have the big-time players that we had in previous years here - guys that were experienced and different makers every night. We still have guys a little too inconsistent at times. Once they get us down they just keep on pounding us. We just need to find some mental and physical toughness.

On finding ways to win...
It's definitely frustrating that we lose to our archrival again and we haven't made it a game yet with them. Hopefully we can bounce back tomorrow. We're still trying to find the ladder in the standings. We need to get points every weekend and it will be another tough environment tomorrow.

On the missed goal opportunity that sat on the goal line...
That was a tough break there. Right on the goal line and then they come down and get a tough one. We kept playing, but we just don't make it tough enough. We get shots, but we just don't have guys after the rebounds. We need to make them stay in their zone and keep the pressure on them and make them work to defend us. At times, they did that to us. We're just dying to get the puck out and they keep them momentum and don't let it stop until they get a whistle.
