Msu Wins in Breaker Invitational

Spartans Beat Wisconsin In Final, 2-1

MADISON, WI.- Chad Alban made 28 saves-including 15 in the first period- to lead Michigan State to a 2-1 win over Wisconsin in the championship game of the inaugaral Ice Breaker Invitational in Madison, Wis.

Alban's first period performance kept it scoreless after one. Wisconsin struck first in the second as a Spartan penalty expired.

Mike York made a pretty feed to linemate Bryan Adams 12:48 into the second to tie the score.

MSU sophmore Shawn Horcoff scored the game-winner on a breakaway set up by a Jeff Kozakowski pass 5:39 into the third. The Spartan defense, which gave up just two goals on the weekend, completely stifled any Badger attempts from then on.

It was the first tournament title for MSU since 1990 and moves the third-ranked Spartans to 2-0-1 on the young season.
