MSU Downs Ferris State, 6-1
EAST LANSING--Michigan State received multiple-point games from four different players and cruised to a 6-1 victory over Ferris State Tuesday night at Van Andel Arena.
The Spartans scored in the first minute of all three periods -- including a Rustyn Dolyny goal just 19 seconds into the game -- and held a 6-0 lead early in the third.
Senior goaltender Chad Alban denied 22 Ferris State shots as the Bulldogs actually outshot MSU, 23-22.
Michigan State had the finishers, however, led by freshman right wing Dolyny. His two first-period goals sandwiched around a Kevin O'Keefe tally to give the Spartans a 3-0 intermission advantage. Dolyny's linemates, junior center Mike York and junior left wing Bryan Adams, assisted on both of his goals and both finished with three assists. O'Keefe also had two goals for Michigan State, which had a pair of multiple-goal scorers for the first time since playing Ferris last November. Sophomore Shawn Horcoff and freshman Sean Patchell added goals for the Spartans.
