Lerg Honored Again By CCHA

East Lansing, Mich. - Spartan junior goaltender Jeff Lerg (Livonia, Mich.) has earned his second consecutive CCHA Goaltender of the Week honor and fourth of the 2007-08 season. Lerg was instrumental in Michigan State taking three points in a home-and-home series with sixth-ranked Notre Dame last weekend.

Lerg stopped 64 of 66 shots in the two-game series. Th e junior made 30 saves in a 3-1 victory at Munn Arena on Friday, Michigan State's first victory this season over a ranked team. He made 34 stops in Sunday's 1-1 tie - including eight in overtime - with the lone Irish goal coming in the fi nal minute of play with an extra attacker.

Lerg has been named the first star in each of MSU's last three games. Over the last two series, the Spartans are undefeated (2-0-2), and Lerg has posted a 1.73 GAA and .948 save percentage.

The Spartans return to action this weekend as they continue a four-game road swing. MSU takes on Big Ten rival Ohio State in Columbus on Friday and Saturday.
