Sept. 27, 2012
East Lansing, Mich. - - Michigan State fans of all ages are invited to attend the "Meet The Spartans" event for the hockey team on Tuesday, Oct. 2 from 6-8 p.m. at Munn Ice Arena.
Doors open at 6 p.m., and beginning at 6:30 p.m., second-year Michigan State head coach Tom Anastos, the coaching staff, members of the 2012-13 team, and Sparty will be available on the Munn Ice surface to sign autographs and take pictures.
The format has changed slightly from previous years - fans will not be permitted to skate, nor will the team be in skates. This is to provide a safer environment for all fans, many of whom frequently decline to skate and walk on the ice.
On the concourse, promotional posters and schedule cards will be available, concessions will be open, and fans will have the opportunity to purchase tickets for the upcoming season. Season tickets (both public and student), mini-packages, and single-game tickets for games in the 2012-13 season will be available.
The ice will not be resurfaced after the team's practice that afternoon, allowing a rough ice surface suitable for walking on in street shoes. All fans will enter the ice through the visitor bench, and players and coaches will mingle with fans throughout the two-hour session on the Munn ice surface.
There is no charge for this event, and entry is through the east entry doors (facing Spartan Stadium) beginning at 6 p.m..
