EAST LANSING, Mich. -- - Michigan State appeared in the USCHO.com pre-season poll, debuting at No. 16 in the first survey of the 2012-13 season. The USCHO.com Poll consists of 50 voters, including 28 coaches from the Division I conferences and 22 beat writers and sports professionals from across the country.
Last week, Michigan State was one of several teams receiving votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll. That poll is conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association. The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the five NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the AHCA and USA Hockey.
A total of six teams from the CCHA appear in one or both polls: Michigan (3/3), Miami (9/9), Notre Dame (14/10), Western Michigan (10/11), Ferris State (11/14), and the Spartans (16/RV).
Michigan State officially opens the 2012-13 season on Friday, October 12 with a two-game series at preseason No. 1 / 2 Minnesota.
