East Lansing, Mich. -- - Michigan State fans of all ages are invited to attend the "Meet The Spartans" event for the hockey team on Thursday, Oct. 25 from 5-7 p.m. at the Ralph G. Cantile Arena in Cheboygan, Mich. The Spartans will practice, and interact with fans on their way to a two-game series at Lake Superior State on Oct. 26-27. This is a free event, and open to the public.
"We are so grateful for the fan support we receive, and we are always looking for ways in which we can engage with our fans who live in areas which aren't easily accessible to our campus," said head coach Tom Anastos. "We're excited about practicing in Cheboygan at the Ralph Cantile Arena and making Spartan hockey accessible to MSU fans and amateur hockey participants in the northern portions of the lower peninsula. Doors open at 5 p.m., when the Spartans begin their final practice before the Lake Superior State series, which begins the following day at Taffy Abel Arena in Sault Ste. Marie.
When practice concludes at 6:15, the coaching staff, members of the 2012-13 team, and Sparty will be available on the ice surface to sign autographs and take pictures. The ice will not be resurfaced after the team's practice that afternoon, allowing a rough ice surface suitable for walking on in street shoes. Fans will not be permitted to skate at this event.
The team will provide posters for autographs, and will be available to take pictures on the ice with fans from 6:15-7 p.m.
