EAST LANSING, Mich. -- - On Thursday, Oct. 25, the Michigan State hockey team stopped in Cheboygan, Mich. to hold an open practice and fan Meet & Greet Session. The team was on its way to Sault Ste. Marie for a weekend series against CCHA rival Lake Superior State.
Michigan State Director of Hockey Operations Adam Nightingale is a native of Cheboygan and skated for the Spartans from 2003-05. He helped arrange this fan experience in his hometown rink. Prior to practice, the players took in the trophy case in the arena's lobby, searching out pictures of both Adam and Jared Nightingale (MSU 2002-06). Both Nightingales served as alternate captains during their days in Green & White. Jared is currently playing professional hockey for the Syracuse Crunch (AHL).
The Spartans held their final practice prior to the LSSU series, which was open to the public to watch from the stands. At the conclusion of practice, the fans - which numbered nearly 300 - came out onto the ice and walked around the perimeter of the ice surface, having autographs signed by the MSU players, who also posed for pictures.
