Crowder Earns CCHA Weekly Honors
Dec. 10, 2007
East Lansing, Mich. - Michigan State junior winger Tim Crowder (Victoria, British Columbia) was named the CCHA Offensive Player of the Week, as announcemed by the CCHA office on Monday, Dec. 10. The Spartans are coming off a home-and-home sweep of Ferris State last weekend (4-3, 4-1), have won their last four conference games (4-0), and are undefeated in their last six games overall (4-0-2). MSU is undefeated in CCHA road games this season (5-0).
Crowder had a pair of goals each night in the sweep of Ferris State - the teams played Friday in Big Rapids, and again on Saturday in East Lansing. The junior had been the most snakebitten of Spartans, with just two goals on the year entering the weekend - but managed two goals in the third period of each game against the Bulldogs. Crowder was a +4 on the weekend, and helped the Spartans extend their conference winning streak.
Crowder is the fourth player to be honored this season by the CCHA. Bryan and Jeff Lerg were honored as the Offensive Player and Goaltender of the Week last week, (Dec. 3). Jeff Lerg and Daniel Vukovic have been honored earlier in the season as well.
Michigan State, now 12-3-2 (8-2-0 CCHA), enjoys a 19-day hiatus from competition, and will next compete at the Great Lakes Invitational Dec. 28-29. The Spartans will take on Michigan Tech in the semifinals on the 28th at 8 p.m.
